The Doan Boys Ride Again - a Digestif

This is a quintessential after-dinner drink. Dad’s Hat PA style Rye provides the perfect amount of spice to act as a platform for the hints of gentian herb and orange in the sweet vermouth. The addition of the savory bitters with its nettle, thyme, and turmeric instead of the classic aromatic or orange serves to bring the whiskey’s spice to the foreground. The sweet basil and celery in the bitters prove to be surprisingly perfect partners for the smooth rye.

This is a Manhattan for the true Pennsylvania garden imbiber.
